Our Story
Once upon a time, there were two high school students who shared some of the same friends but never really knew each other. That is, until senior year of high school, when they both shared an Art Class. They started talking with each other through their friend, Mo, and soon, they began to ask each other for help on their artwork and quizzes.
Prom season rolled around. Nate asked Darlene if she would like to go to Prom with her. They went to Prom, Darlene in her hot pink gown with a beautiful satin bow sash in the back that her mom helped create and add on to her Nicole Miller dress. Nate wore a pink tie, of course, to match. Darlene and Nate danced the whole night away. On the last dance of the night to KC and Jojo's "All My Life," Nate slow-danced with Darlene, and one of their friends gave her a wink to show that this looked like something more.
They finished the year off, hanging out with each other at Carney's and bowling. After graduation, they celebrated and took pictures with each other. Nate decided that he wanted to ask Darlene out formally so he did. And she agreed. They spent the summer before college going to Santa Monica on their first date and various times afterwards. They would go to the park to play sports. Finally, Nate got up the courage to ask Darlene if she would continue to be his girlfriend even though they were going to different colleges. "I'm his girlfriend?" Darlene thought. The summer had gone by so fast and they had enjoyed so much that she had forgotten that they would have to go to separate colleges in the fall. However, they decided to stick it out. They spent 4 years in a long distance relationship. He was going to school in Santa Barbara and she in Norcal. The first year, Nate would drive his '69 Mustang (her favorite) up North, guzzling gas along the way. That Mustang would disturb the college kids at night with its sensitive car alarm that would go off seemingly randomly but especially consistently during Final's Week for some reason. Needless to say, they found many notes on the car from sleep-deprived students asking for the driver to turn the alarm off. When they were apart, Darlene would call at all hours of the day just to hear his voice. But even through all the driving and phone calls, they made it somehow. They supported each other through the loss of many loved ones and have showed each other what dedication, commitment and true love looks like. They both have a wanderlust for life and have already begun adventures in many different places like Catalina Island, Big Bear, Arizona, Mexico, Jamaica and New Orleans (soon to add to that list will be Hong Kong, Thailand and India together with family!).
Nathan proposed on July 22, 2012. Call them what you will: high school sweet hearts, college loves, best friends, soldiers of love.
These two have grown up together. Their histories are written in each other's eyes. Above all, they keep each other young.

"You're all that I ever known
When you smile, on my face, all I see is a glow
You turned my life around
You picked me up when I was down...
All my life
I've prayed for someone like you
And I thank God that I, that I finally found you."
